Traditional Dry Flies
I would probably need more time than I have at present to do Dry Fly fishing justice so I will be updating this as soon as I can.
Adams Irrisistable is a very successful pattern in the United States, and it has crossed the pond with similar success, it is one of those almost unsinkable flies, and when there is slight chop on the water surface, retrieving it through it creates a slight wake which the feeding fish cannot resist.
Black Gnat most likely evolved as a dry fly adaptation of a very old British wet fly pattern. Whatever its origins, it has been a standby fly of dry fly anglers for decades. It is a great dry fly for early morning or late evening fishing, or on overcast days when the dark silhouette seems to be readily visible to rising trout.
